The original 'Westcliff' and 'Waterfront' Casinos were established in the 1970s and it was originally at the Mill House in Station Road. It opened at its present site, formerly an open-air swimming pool and then a boat deck as part of The Westcliff Leisure Centre, in 1987. It has developed into the largest provincial casino and the second largest in Britain. The casino was first run by Brent Walker, and then by R J Bown Holdings. It was bought by Genting UK for an estimated £30,000,000.

The casino features many slots and Electronic Roulette terminals and twenty table games (single zero American Roulette, Baccarat, Three Card Poker, Blackjack and Two Way Texas Hold'em Poker) as well as a 120 cover restaurant overlooking the Thames Estuary.
Only a small part of the entire building is used by the public. The building itself actually descends three floors down.
In November 2007, the two sister casinos, 'Spielers' Casino' and 'Westcliff Casino', were refurbished by Genting Stanley to create the casinos named Southend Mint. Most recently in 2012, the casino underwent a multimillion-pound refurbishment and was renamed.[3]
The first casino wedding in the United Kingdom took place at Southend.[4] A player won £200,000 from the casino in 2010 taking him out of debt.[5]

Located in Kursaal Amusement Park, one of the earliest theme parks, in the Essex seaside town of Southend, the Rendezvous Casino is part of the Caesars Entertainment group. The casino shares the complex with a bowling alley and other amusements and is within walking distance of the seafront esplanade and the famous Southend pier, the world’s longest pleasure pier at 1.3 miles. The Rendezvous has a 23,000 square foot casino floor and is located on the second floor.
Drivers should take the A127 onto the A13 where members will find free parking adjacent to the casino. Southend Victoria station is just over a mile from the action and Southend Central just under. Southend Airport is just over three miles away and Gatwick, Heathrow and Luton airports are all between 45 and 55 miles distance. Being a seaside town there are many hotels to choose from with the nearest being the Hope, Park Inn and the Falcon, as well as a plethora of independent B and Bs.
The main gaming floor has 20 slots and 28 fully automated roulette terminals, 20 gaming tables with nine American Roulette tables, five Blackjack, three Three Card Poker and one Baccarat. There are also 16 roulette machines. In addition, Kalooki and Mahjong are played regularly. Selected slot machines have up to £10,000 jackpots.
